The final design is made of reinforced concrete and clad in corten steel which will weather into a rustic terracotta colour much alike the burnet lazer cut wood on my model, this colour is harmonious with the site as it reflects the orange brickwork of the old railway station behind.

There is a highrise observational area which is accessible via the stairs for people to come and observe the area from another persective and hangout. This structure provides shelter from the prevailing winds and the afternoon sun glare so that there is a nice sheltered area enclosed within.

The site is surrounded by apartment blocks. This would be a perfect site for street kids to come as the CBD lacks playgrounds for children.

By placing the design at this Site it also brings to life the old railway station once more. And we can remember the days when is was still functioning as a railway station.

Different pieces of model put into piles so that they were easier for me to order them

Key:

Black line: Tramroute

Blue: Site of where Tramstop will be

THEME: My group consists of Shirin, Sally, Nick, Rachel and myself. We each came up with a variety of themes and in the end of the day our tram route focused on the idea that it was to be places within the triangle which we considered to have potential to develop int strong social hubs and and facilitate gathering of people. These included restaurants, shops, major roads and transport routes, parks, event centers and more.

The 12 stops chosen for this tramline :

1.Wynyard Quarter

2. Viaduct (near wildfire/hilton etc)

3. A water stop – End of the dock with ‘The Cloud’ etc

4. The new Britomart courtyard area, so near tyler street garage and those new bars etc

5. A stop in a high rise or apartment block perhaps in the Dockside lane area, near food places and businesses

6. Perhaps in the parks near Vector, providing transport for people getting to events, or to the train line there, or businesses. Also to help bolster usage of downtown park area

7. Judges Bay, close to the Parnell Pools

8. Parnell Rise, – Shops, parking for inner city, parnell rose gardens

9. Near the courthouse, uni students and workers

10. University Quad, or thereabouts, perhaps albert park

11. Another hugh stop near short street and the law school

12. Vulcan/Durham lane, close to bars, restaurants, cafes, shopping, venues etc
